About Jogjakarta Wildlife Rescue Centre, Indonesia – Volunteer with Orphaned Animals in Borneo
The Widlife Rescue Centre is a place where orphaned and injured wild animals are nurse back into good health and returned to the wild. The Centre provides animals poached out of the wild rainforests of Borneo a second chance. At the present time, the Centre has five orangutans and several other wild animals such as gibbons, crocodiles and many species of birds. The Centre is famous for rehabilitating and releasing injured eagles and other raptors, including the highly endangered Javan Eagle.
Volunteers will provide general care to the animals by cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures and preparing food. Volunteers can also increase the awareness on environmental issues and teach English to the local school children through the Conservation English sessions, which are organized at the local primary school. By the end of the trip, volunteers can anticipate learning a lot about animal conservation and the Javan culture. Most importantly, you can expect to have lots of fun while volunteering with us and meeting new people!
Accommodations at the Wildlife Centre are single sex dormitory-style rooms. Each unit has two sets of bunk beds and an ensuite cold water shower with western style toilet.

Sustainable Development and Ecotourism at the Jogjakarta Wildlife Rescue Centre
The Widlife Rescue Centre is a place where orphaned and injured wild animals are nursed back into good health and returned to the wild. It provides animals poached out of the wild rainforests of Borneo a second chance. We teach volunteers and locals alike about environmental awareness in this fragile ecosystem. By bringing voluntourists to the town, our programs contribute to the local economy and local businesses, including food stalls and souvenir shops. We promote the Javan culture to the world by welcoming those who volunteer with us.
